Trip to the Rockies!!!

Hello scrappers & photographers,

Wow!!! What a busy but fun weekend!!! Our SGES Home & School helped organized the Craft Fair that took place at the school this past Saturday. It was fabulous!!! We had over 500 people come through the doors. I had fun greeting everyone and took a little time to go shopping as well. I bought a few pieces of jewelry...surprising hein!!! I also discovered a great local jewelry artist. FUN...FUN...FUN Thank you so much to everyone who helped making this event possible!!! It was a great fundraiser for our local Home & School association!!!

Well I am finally showing you my pictures from our wonderful trip to the rockies. We were gone for 10 fun filled days. We started our trip in Jasper. What a beautiful spot in the mountains!!! There was so much to see around Jasper, lots of different lakes, falls, canyons and mountains of course. Here are some of my favorite pictures around Jasper.

We then spent 3 nights in Banff. Unfortunatly, I got some kind of 24 hour flu so I was in bed for Thanksgiving day...all day. Jannatta was also sick in bed, but the men didn't get sick at all. I wonder what we ate????? My poor husband had to go shopping by himself. Let's just say that I caught up quickly on my shopping the next day...lol Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Banff and surroundings.

And we then headed to Vancouver for 4 days. We had lots of fun shopping and going whale watching.

Thank you so much Corey & Jannatta for a wonderful trip!!! We had such an amazing time!!!
That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Proud Photography!!!!

Grade: 10.00 (100.00 %)
Hey Chantal, congrats on finishing up the course! I'm really honored to have been able to work with you through all of these assignments, and I hope that you enjoyed yourself and learned a lot through the process. I've really seen a large amount of improvement, and I'm impressed with your photographic "eye".
First Impressions
The abstract shot of what looks like water and a zooming effect came out really cool. Has that "lightspeed" effect going on, and definitely no real discernible features just shapes and colors. Great work! The action panning shot with the kid running down the road is good here, and I like the fact that you caught him totally off the ground! Also, the lower perspective helped keep the viewer's attention better. The black and white shot of the church was fantastic here, and I like the angle that you were able to achieve, tough more of the steps on the bottom would've helped (believe me I know the limitations of wide-angles in such scenes). It was better not to cut off the steeple, though, as you chose. The night shot of the bridge and the down-town city lights was great, and I like the angle you chose for this based on the reflections, and colors. Excellent timing and setup! The landscape shot of the mountain lake with the cliffs in the background, and trees in the fore was very nicely done. I probably would've warmed up the white balance a bit, since you were in shadow, but it's still a great scene. The last portrait shot of the young girl was excellent, and I like the expression you were able to capture. Good use of the flash too!
Technical Recommendations
From a technical standpoint you really set things up nicely here so that there wasn't much to really recommend. I like to see you applying the various techniques based on the lighting and the particular subject matter, so basically you're where I hoped you'd be by the end of the course! Great work!
Creative Suggestions
The best shot of the series was definitely the night shot. It's composition really makes the whole thing, and choosing to shoot a little after twilight gives the sky that dark bluish glow. Very well done. Top score here!
Excellent job, Chantal. Thanks for letting me guide you through this course, and I hope that you've had fun and learned a lot. Be sure to pass our name on to any friends or family that might be interested in what we offer here, and you're always welcome to come back and review any lessons or topics in the forum boards.
Happy shooting!
~ greg

Hello scrappers,

Well time flies when you are having fun!!! I can't believe it's been this long since my last post. It's been really busy here. I had every intention at the start of September to post at least once a week. I guess life it too busy. I will settle for once a month at least and give updates.

I am enjoying being involved with my son's school. This Friday I will start teaching a French class to his Kindergarten class. I hope to initiate them to the French language by singing songs, learning to count, crafts, etc. It should be lots of fun.

Well since school started, we are also going to Taekwondo every Monday evening, Skating Sunday afternoon and swimming starting this week. It sure keeps us busy but he loves it all.

Here is a layout I finished last month and never posted. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by.

Check back in a few days for some pics from our trip to the Rockies!!!

Loving my life!!!

Hello scrappers,

Did I mention yet that I love my life??? I am so happy to be home for my family and spend all the extra time with my son. I didn't waist time with voluntering. I was elected Secretary for the St George Elementary School PSSC last night. I think it's going to be good being involved!!! I am also a member of the SGES Home & School. I realized I had made the right decision to close my store when my son told me last week: "Maman, I am glad you are not working in your store anymore". Now how cute is that!!! It brought tears to my eyes. I love my life & my family!!!

So can you believe that I actually went to an All Day Crop Saturday to scrapbook. WOW!!! Did that ever feel good!!! I got lots done...7 layouts!!! Can't get any better than that...lots of laughter & lots of yummy food!!! I am looking foward to the next one. Here are the layouts I got done. Hope you enjoy!!!

Scrapbooking Again!!!!

Hello scrappers,

Wow!!! Does it ever feel good to have my scrapbook room to myself again. The past few weeks, I have been working at re-organizing my scrapbook area. I bought a few new pieces of furniture that I just love for my punches and die cut machines. I went through all my supplies and organized it better...if that's even possible in my space...lol For those who know me very well, you know that I am a bit fanatic about organizing my stuff...lol I am also getting my walls painted since their were lots of holes from the slatwalls and pegboards that came off. It's pretty exciting. As soon as it's all done, I will post pictures of my new and improved scrapbook/photography room.

It's been fun to scrapbook with friends again. It seems that I was always teaching and never scrapbooking for myself anymore...does it ever feel good. I finaly got a couple of layouts done this week and I will have lots more to show you after this weekend since I am going to an All Day Crop Saturday. The last crop I have been too as a scrapbooker and not a vendor is October 2008 with Paws On Scrapbooking. Yes...that is too long!!! I will tell you all about it next week. In the mean time, hope you enjoy these 2 layouts!!!

I truly did enjoy having a scrapbook store. It's every scrapbookers dream!!!! Well it was mine anyways!!! I did it for almost 2 years and now it's time to move on to new adventures...my son going to Kindergarten. It was such a difficult decision for me to let go of my store...it has been my baby and I truly loved giving classes & inspiring people. BUT now that my son has started school, I do realize how important it is to be home for him when he comes off that bus. We have so much time to spend together now, it's great...and I don't get every morning: "Maman, do you have to go to work today". That just broke my heart everytime. He is growing up too fast and I want to make sure I don't miss out on anything!!! I am getting ready to go decorate cupcakes with his class this morning...I love my life & my family!!!

That is it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

In August, I announced that my scrapbook store was closing. It took me a few months to actually make the decision to close. I must say, it was the best decision for our family. I am very happy to be home with my son everyday when he comes home from school. He has started kindergarten this year and he just loves it. The first week was a little tuff to get used to but we are doing great now. Ethan would say the first week that he didn't like school because he was shy of the kids he didn't know. How cute is that!!!! He is now very happy to go to school. Here are a few pictures of the 1st day of school.

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.
